â¢*Talk about collaboration! There’s big excitement at UNCA about the enormous mural being installed in the cafeteria. Word is that at least 40 artists worked on the project over the last two years.
⢠Watch for Robert Godfrey’s new paintings, collectively called Silly Talk, to be shown locally in the spring. He hasn’t lost his edgy sense of humor.
⢠Other news from UNCA: Tucker Cooke, who guided the art department for the better part of 40 years, is about to retire. He’s developed an interest in an unusual sculpture project. Best wishes for an exciting new venture.
⢠Clay is rampant! Hendersonville’s Center for Craft Creativity and Design has an exhibit, curated by Megan Wolfe, of ceramic works from UNCA faculty members and current and former students. The show is marked by a tremendous amount of variety, which speaks well for the department. The lower gallery at Blue Spiral is filled with every imaginable kind of ceramic work—and some pieces you can’t imagine.
⢠Meetings around the Old Mill Project in Hendersonville continue. There is a serious interest in its being designated a “green” building.
