Who will be doing what where ? and when

Tell It in the Mountains events take place Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3, at the Asheville Community Theatre (“A.C.T.,” at 25 Walnut St.), the Central Methodist Church (“Central,” at 27 Church St.), Jubilee! Community Church (“Jubilee,” at 46 Wall St.), and Saturday night, on the top level of the Pack Square Parking Deck (“Pack”). A special Thursday night workshop will be held at the First Baptist Church (“Baptist,” at 5 Oak St.). Food and drink will be available throughout the festival from street vendors and area restaurants.

Full weekend passes are $40 for adults, and $20 for youths, ages 6-15. Except for “A Family Event” and “Stories Under the Stars,” the festival is not geared for children under 6. Weekend passes include all events except the Thursday evening and Saturday morning workshops. Saturday-and-Sunday-only passes are $34 for adults, and $17 for youths, ages 6-15. Saturday day-passes, good for all Saturday events until 5:30 p.m. (except the 10 a.m. workshop) are $20 for adults, and $10 for youths, ages 6-15. Sunday day-passes are $10 for all. For those who don’t wish to buy a weekend pass, individual-event or day prices are listed in parentheses on the schedule below.

Baptist : A special workshop for clergy, storytellers and believers of all faiths, called “Storytelling and the Healing of Brokenness,” with Belden C. Lane (event not included with weekend pass). ($6)

Friday, May 1

Central: “Olio — A Storytelling Sampler,” with featured tellers. ($12)

Saturday, May 2

10 a.m.-12 p.m.

• A.C.T.: “A River of Stories,” with Patrick Ball, Joyce Grear and Bill Mooney. ($5)

• Jubilee: Workshop: “Mythic Journey & Personal Narrative,” with Jim May (not included with weekend or day pass). ($15)

12 p.m.-1:15 p.m.

• Central: “Swapping Ground,” a storytelling “Open mike” — sponsored by The Asheville Storytelling Circle. (Free)

1:30-2:30 p.m.

• A.C.T.: “A Secret Isle,” with Patrick Ball. ($5)

• Central: “Wisdom of the World,” with Belden Lane & Bill Moody. ($5)

• Jubilee: “A Family Event,” with Joyce Grear and Connie Regan-Blake. (Appropriate for young children. $2 for all)

3-4 p.m.

•A.C.T.: “Mountain Tales & Modern Memories,” with Connie Regan-Blake. ($5)

• Central: “Harriet Tubman’s Journey,” with Joyce Grear. ($5)

• Jubilee: “Our Ancestors’ Stories,” with Ray Hicks & Patrick Ball. ($5)

4:30-5:30 p.m.

• A.C.T.: “With a Dog’s Eyes,” with Bill Mooney. ($5)

• Central: “Religious Roots,” with Belden Lane. ($5)

• Jubilee: “Talking About the Old Ways,” with Ray Hicks. ($5)

• Pack: “Stories Under The Stars,” with featured tellers. Bring a blanket or folding chair. (Appropriate for young children. Not included with Saturday daytime pass. $5 for all)

Sunday, May 3

• A.C.T.: “Welcome to the Table: Sacred Stories,” with featured and surprise tellers. ($5)

1:30 p.m.

• A.C.T.: “Stories that Bring Us Home,” with featured tellers. ($5)
