Local melodic-based indie-rockers Asian Teacher Factory describe themselves on Reverb Nation as “a keyboard, drums and guitar trio dedicated to furthering the psychedelic mind in Asian science education.” They also claim to sound like tortoises, though the band’s first EP, Selfless Mind Indulgence, moves with more of a hare’s deftness. Bright, nimble percussion underscores melodic lines that evoke jazz riffs, biological transmutation and the non-fight scenes of vintage kung fu films. Asian Teacher Factory performs at One Stop on Saturday, June 30. Deja Fuze opens. 10 p.m., $5. Photo by KMG Photography.
Xpress will give away a pair of tickets to the show tomorrow, at noon, on Facebook.
