"Shop indie. Shop handmade. Shop fun," says the press release for The Big Crafty, which returns to the Asheville Art Museum and Pack Square on Sunday, July 7. The best thing about the summer arts and crafts fair is that instead of stocking up on Christmakwanzakah gifts for friends and family members (like you do at the December Big Crafty), the warm-weather event is all about shopping for yourself. Or not. There's no hard and fast rule that says you can't buy a little something for someone special. Like a handmade apron, or a field guide print, or a t-shirt with his or her zodiac sign. There will be 150-plus crafters, along with food, drink and music. Noon-6 p.m., free to attend. http://thebigcrafty.com.
