Smart Bets: Shangri-La at The Magnetic Field

Dianne Chapman and RoseLynn Katz

When The Magnetic Theatre says adult comedy, they're not joking about mature themes. Shangri-La, a premiere by local playwright Lucia Del Vecchio, is set in a senior citizen retirement trailer park in Florida. According to press, the characters "deal with nosy neighbors, gossip, possibly inappropriate behavior and dress, Internet dating, golden years’ love and sex, and an under-the-sea mixer-and-dance." The show runs Thursdays-Saturdays, Sept. 17-Oct. 8. 7:30 p.m. with 4 p.m. Saturday matinees. $12/$14. Previews Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15 and 16, 7:30 p.m. are $8.
