Mela

Asheville, we've come a long way, baby. In 2005, Xpress didn't even offer a category for Best Indian (and we wonder if you may have voted for Pocahontas back then anyway, you jokesters). But, one year after Mela opened on Lexington Avenue, in the building that used to house "The Body" and its ragtag group of devotees, we gave you the opportunity to tell us where you most liked to eat palak paneer and pakoras. And ever since there has been an opportunity for you to do so, you've told us that Mela is tops for tandoori and the champion of chowpatti ragada. And, really, we'd say that's pretty special.
