A recent transplant to Asheville, singer-songwriter Angel Olsen performed solo as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The video was posted this week. Olsen released her sophomore album, Half Way Home, on local label Bathetic Records and it was she (with former Xpress editor Jaye Bartell) who played the launched of The Mothlight.
“The last thing I want to do is walk into a café and hear my song playing,” Olsen told Xpress while she was still based in Chicago. “It’s like seeing a picture of yourself naked up in a restaurant while you’re trying to eat a sandwich.”
Happily, lots of people would be happy to hear Olsen’s song playing while they were eating a sandwich. This Tiny Desk Concert is poised to win her even more fans.
