Asheville throwbacks

Over the weekend, Twitter user Shameika Rene (@Mofochronicles) started the hastag #ashevillethrowbacks and soon folks around Asheville were wandering down virtual memory lane.

Based on the tweets and the times they reference, a reader can get an idea of when a tweeter moved to Asheville. Lots of folks using the hashtag (which morphed at some point to include #ashevillethrowback, #avlthrowback and #avlthrowbacks) grew up here (notice references to neighborhood and high school football).

    Seriously someone said the Joli Rouge!? LOL! Anything that started and ended in the 2000’s is not a throwback!

    How about Max’s Celebrity Deli?

    What about the hot dog place (Weiner Works?) that used to be roughly where the Tunnel Road Ingles gas station is? Also, Merrimon Twin Theater, Insbrook Twin and the Asheville Mall Theater. The video game arcade upstairs at the mall. Pedro’s Porch in Biltmore. The first El Chapala near Beaver Lake. The Krispy Kreme, Frank’s Roman Pizza triangle. Lunar Mountain Caboose. Alternative Pub. The mini golf course on Patton behind Denny’s. The mini golf course on Tunnel Road behind Waffle House. Smoking room downstairs at BeHereNow.

    The absolute best 2 for last:
    1. The Blue Rags at BeHereNow (best Asheville shows ever!).
    2. Rio Burrito (hasn’t been that long but it feels like ages)

    I’m almost certain someone prolly did, but i really cant read all those hash marks and whatnot.
