Asheville Transit schedule during Bele Chere

While Asheville City buses will continue to run during Bele Chere weekend, certain routes may be altered due to downtown street closures. Here is the complete route schedule according to Asheville Transit’s service alert:

BELE CHERE WEEKEND: Asheville Transit will detour some normally scheduled routes during the Bele Chere festival.  Route detours will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 28 and will continue through Saturday evening July 30.

As part of Asheville Transit’s continuing goal to provide quality service for our everyday passengers, all route times and destinations will remain the same. However, the following changes will be in effect as routes enter and exit downtown.

Route 1 – Haywood Road – No change in route                                      

Route 2 – Merrimon Avenue
• (outbound) – Leave the Transit Center, right on Asheland Avenue, left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on to I-240 East to the Broadway/Merrimon Avenue exit and resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From Merrimon Avenue, take I-240 West to Montford exit, left on Montford Avenue, right on Haywood Street, to left on Patton Avenue to Transit Center.                                       

Route 4 – Kenilworth / Asheville Mall – No change in route                                      

Route 5 – Charlotte Street
• (outbound) – right on Coxe Avenue, right on Hilliard Avenue, right on Asheland Avenue left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on to I-240 to East Charlotte Street exit to resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From Charlotte St. take I- 240 West to Montford exit, left on Montford Ave., right on Haywood St., left on Patton Ave., to Transit Center.                                                                           

Route 6 – Asheville Airport – No change in route                                

Route 8 – Biltmore Avenue / Shiloh – No change in route                                
                                 
Route 9 – Biltmore Square Mall – No change in route                                                    

Route 11 – Montford Avenue
• (outbound) – Right on Asheland Avenue, left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on Montford Avenue, to resume regular route.
• (inbound) –  From Montford Avenue, right on Haywood Street, right on Patton Avenue, to Transit Center.                                       

Route 12 – Biltmore / Oakley – No change in route.

Route 13 – Tunnel Road / Oteen / Haw Creek
• (outbound) – Left on Asheland Avenue, left on Hilliard Avenue, right on Coxe Avenue, left on Southside Avenue to S. Charlotte, right on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, right on College Street to resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From College Avenue turn left on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, left on S. Charlotte Avenue to Southside Avenue, right on Coxe Avenue, to Transit Center.                         

Route 15 – Patton Avenue / Deaverview
• (outbound) – Right on Coxe Avenue, right on Hilliard Avenue, right Asheland Avenue, left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on Montford Avenue, then resume regular route.
• (inbound) – No change in route.                         

Route 16 – Bingham Heights – No change in route.                         

Route 18 – UNCA / A-B Tech
• (outbound) –  Regular route outbound until the turn from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, onto College Avenue, the route will turn right on N. Charlotte Street, left on to I-240 West to the Broadway / Merrimon Avenue exit. Proceed to UNCA using Merrimon Avenue
• (inbound) – At the Civic Center, turn right on Haywood Street, left on Patton Avenue, to Transit Center.

Route 26 – Tunnel Road / Walmart
• (outbound) – Right on Coxe Avenue, left on Southside Avenue to S. Charlotte Street, right on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, right on College Street, then resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From College Street, left on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, to left on S. Charlotte Street, to Southside Avenue, right on Coxe Avenue to Transit Center.

Route 36 – South Asheville – No change in route.                                                                                                         

Route 38 – S. French Broad Avenue – No change in route.                                                                                 

Route 41 – West Asheville – No change in route                                                                    

Route 46 – Patton Avenue / Louisiana Avenue – No change in route.                                                   

Route 51 – Montford Avenue
• (outbound) – Right on Asheland Avenue, left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on Montford Avenue, to resume regular route.
• (inbound) –  From Montford Avenue, right on Haywood Street, right Patton Avenue, to Transit Center.                                       

Route 52E – Merrimon Avenue
• (outbound) – Leave the Transit Center, right on Asheland Avenue, left on Patton Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on to I-240 East to Broadway / Merrimon Avenue exit, then resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From Merrimon Avenue take I-240 West to Montford Avenue exit, left on Montford Avenue, right on Haywood Street, left on Patton Avenue to Transit Center.                                       

Route 170 – Warren Wilson / Black Mountain
• (outbound) – Left on Asheland Avenue, left on Hilliard Avenue, right on Coxe Avenue, left on Southside Avenue to S. Charlotte Street, right on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, right on College Street to resume regular route.
• (inbound) – From College Street. turn left on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, left on S. Charlotte Street to Southside Avenue, right on Coxe Avenue to Transit Center.
