As strange as it may seem, one of Asheville’s most interesting bloggers also happens to be one that we rarely know how to cover. Although the adamantly pro-Christian, pro-mysticism, pro-gay, pro-geek mind behind Raphael.Doxos.com is fascinating, blogger Huw Richardson only occasionally writes about anything local enough for us to reference.
But, thanks to the love-them/hate-them regional delicacy known as ramps, the also pro-cooking Richardson has finally posted something local enough for us to pass along. Richardson has been in the kitchen, you see, dreaming up new ways to serve this culinarily polarizing plant.
“It came to me to do a ramp dish, but one not normal,” Richardson writes. “Last year I did the scrambled eggs thing and, let me tell you, I could taste ramps for the rest of the week. So this year I wanted to make up something useful.”
The result? “Quiche Canadalina.”
