The Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes show at the Emerald Lounge this Friday,June 22 (with Travers Brothers Band and Men On Earth) has more than one claim to fame.
First, indie-rockers Ellsworth and co. (now from Nashville but originally from various point midwest) had their video for “Bleeding Tongue” premiered on the Paste website two weeks ago, and their 2011 album, Civilized Man was #7 on Amazon’s “Best Songs of 2011.” It’s on sale for $5 for the month of June at Amazon.
Watch “If the Shoe Fits” here:
Also, Ellsworth appeared on series three of the NBC a cappella talent competition The Sing Off with The Collective.
You can watch a performance from that show here — the female lead in this video is Ruby Amanfu who is currently on tour with Jack White.
So, as you can see, Ellsworth is separated by, like, half a degree of separation from pretty much anyone you can name. And he (with his high energy, hooky-melodic band) will be in Asheville on Friday. 9 p.m. show time, $5 at the door. Even better: Xpress will give away a pair of tickets tomorrow, in the noon hour, on Facebook.
