Singer-songwriter Dare Dukes, from Savannah, Ga., performed at the Lab on Friday night. Before the show, he and his band met with Xpress for this video (filmed by Jesse Hamm).
The Friday night performance was an eclectic showcase of bands, starting off with old-time quartet Locust Honey putting a unique spin on classics like “Sitting on Top of the World.” Indie-folk duo John Wilkes Boothe and the Black Toothe closed out the evening. Dare Dukes performed a set in the middle, highlighting songs from his new Thugs and China Dolls album. His six-piece touring band included Gina Samardge (accordion), Patrick Morales (banjo, mandolin), Jessie Marston (bass), Blake Helton (drums) and Phillip Reynolds Price (keys, xylophone). The group ended their set playing “Sam’s Cathedral” (the song featured on Jesse Hamm’s video, above) in the audience.
