Leading up to the inaugural Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, we’re running a series of Q+A interviews with the festival’s artists.
Ben Browning, bassist of Australian electronic band Cut Copy:
Xpress: If you could have another Mountain Oasis artist remix one of your songs, who would it be?
Ben Browning: Silver Apples probably. And if they said no then Animal Collective.
It’s almost Halloween — do you have a costume planned, or can you tell us about a favorite costume from the past? We don’t really celebrate Halloween in Australia. I saw a photo of a guy dressed as both hall and Oates for Halloween. That was pretty scary.
What are some themes or narratives you’ve been working with recently in your music? The latest record we’ve done is called Free your mind, and that title encapsulates the theme of the album fairly succinctly!
Cut Copy performs Saturday, 10 p.m. at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. More info here
