Hey, I’m getting tired of Justin’s gorilla always being on the front page.
Only listened to a couple minutes so far, but Mr. Hanke sounds less cranky/snarky than dryly avuncular in this podcast. My ears were astonished.
. My ears were astonished.
I think this is a first. I don’t know that I’ve ever astonished anyone’s ears before.
Let the jury decide. If you both come suited up Thurs. night, everybody that stays through another Russel movie can vote for their favorite gorilla.
Hmmm. This sounds awfully complicated — and probably sweaty.
Hey, I’m getting tired of Justin’s gorilla always being on the front page.
I did send through a new gorilla-based image that you’re welcome to use.

Where did you send it? I didn’t get it.
No articles on Dennis Hopper? For shame.
You guys have really hit your stride. Any plans to turn this into a video podcast instead of just audio?
I definitely agree on Wes Anderson seeming to improve with each new film (though I thought The Darjeeling Limited was somewhat average, which means as just a movie it is still pretty good).
I’ve always been afraid to tell people that I actually liked About a Boy but I feel empowered now that two other men have given it some praise.
I think the 3D phase will take a while before the populous gets tired of it (maybe I should have watched Avatar in 3D because I was pretty bored the whole time).
So far the only weekly horror film I could get on Netflix instant watch was Frankenstein. I really enjoyed it.
Were you speaking in an ironic “I’m old and call DVDs laser discs” kind of way when you were talking about the Harvey Milk doc or did you actually own a laser disk player?
You guys have really hit your stride.
Well, what I say to that? Other than that’s very kind of you, I can’t think of much.
Any plans to turn this into a video podcast instead of just audio?
That’s always been the plan. In fact, that was the original pitch that was made to us. However, just last week producer Steve said we would soon be taking that leap. I understand, however, that it will still be available in an audio-only format for those who want to take us jogging.

If you like Anderson — and apparently you do — have you watched Darjeeling more than once? If not, try it again. It may surprise you on a second viewing.

Then all our hard work ain’t been in vain for nothin’. (Why do I insist on quoting from a movie I don’t like?)

As well you should have. Instant Netflix is probably going to be lacking a lot of these titles, though all of the films we’ve run are currently commercially available and ought to be rentable. That might be trickier with things like The Black Cat and The Raven — and even the upcoming The Gorgon — since they’re part of a collection of films. I’m never sure how that’s handled.
did you actually own a laser disk player?
And I have 300+ laserdiscs to prove it.
Wonderful episode guys. Especially appreciated Ken’s embittered comments on Bill Condon’s decline and fall.
Thanks for (more or less) answering my queries! Weitz hadn’t occurred to me as promising Director who hasn’t lived up to his potential, but I couldn’t agree more with your assessment.
Have resent the gorillas.

Hell, I’ve been singing Condon’s praises ever since his boyfriend slipped Richard Valley a VHS screener of Gods and Monsters back in 1998 before the film even had a firm distribution deal. And now — Twinklight movies?
Thanks for (more or less) answering my queries!
What did we miss?
Have resent the gorillas.
You are sending them to one of my AOL addresses like xpressmovies@aol.com aren’t you?
What did we miss?
There was a question within the first question about film maker’s whose work over the past decade has made you reevaluate their oeuvre, which slipped through the net.
You are sending them to one of my AOL addresses like xpressmovies@aol.com aren’t you?
That is the exact address I have been using. I resent it this morning – let me know if it doesn’t turn up and I’ll try the other one I have on file for you.
We’ll see about that oeuvre thing.
And the picture arrived. Many thanks and…oh my.
By the way, my favourite moment of this episode.
“It’s… abominable!” – Ken on SATC2.
Well, it is — complete with pause.
Aren’t we about due for another one of these thingamebobs?
Yes, we are actually past-due. Herr Producer Shanafelt was having trouble with the server last night. Presumably, he’ll wrestle it to the ground this morning.
