I came across this event listing on MySpace and thought it was worth sharing: On Saturday, Mar. 24, The 5th Circle is holding a goth clothing swap.
The 5th Circle, for those who don’t know, is a great local resource for anyone into goth or industrial music. The web site includes info on shows and serves as a way for those in WNC’s underground to stay connected. Check out the forum here and the photo gallery here. And while you’re looking at the photos, think about whose outfit you’d most like to be wearing, because there’s a good chance it’ll be up for grabs at the Goth Swap.
The Swap is part of 5th Circle’s twice-monthly Goth nights held at the Joli Rouge (130 College St., 350-1660). Often the DJ’d evenings are themed or feature guest artists, but the one this Saturday is the perfect opportunity for some spring cleaning: “Bring your old clothes, boots, jewelry, etc. and trade it, sell it, or just give it away! All vendors welcome,” reads the flyer.
DJs Nareau and Drees keep the tunes coming, Insanedio firedances. 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., 21 and over, $5 at the door.

The funny thing about this piece is that it states that the Joli Rouge has a “goth night” twice a month. So what is the place the other 28 days of the month?
Most nights feature rock n’ roll, metal, punk, & soul DJs. About half the time the club hosts local bands, benefit shows, and other live performances. Check out their MySpace calendar for more info:

<<<<<< There was the joke. <<<< and here is DJ Nareau's head.
*whoosh* :)
There are a lot of folks in town who actually *do* think Joli Rouge is a “goth club” all the time. These people haven’t ever dropped in to check it out. Which is sad, because they’re missing out on the best bar in town.
My apologies–I took your question at face value because I’ve heard people express the same sentiment seriously.
