In “Gotta Be You,” a track from newly-released Make Believers, local kid-hop artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo offers up the sage advice, “Everyone wants to have a best friend, but your best friend’s gotta be you.” That one line sums up what’s great about Skidoo’s music — it’s not just about lessons for young people, it’s the sort of thing we all need to be reminded of.
In the fun, feel-good video, Skidoo and a host of friends (including his daughter, MC Fireworks, members of Asheville horns and Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, artist and MC Adam Strange and a zillion dancing, rollerskating, skateboarding children) strut and swagger to beats and melodies while making individuality look cooler than ever.
