Downtown Market, Asheville’s newest indoor market located at 45 S. French Broad Ave., will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 8. The market will open at 10 a.m., with the Chamber’s big scissors arriving at noon to do the cutting. The rest of the afternoon, enjoy free food, craft demos, live music and, of course, shopping.
Here’s more on the event and market from Downtown Market’s director of marketing Pepper Parris:
“It’s our ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Downtown Market – Asheville’s newest indoor community shopping experience! All under one roof, you will find arts, crafts, local produce, eclectic flea marketers, groceries and special recipe coffees being served piping hot. Opening at 10 a.m. Friday morning, the huge scissors and fancy city officials arrive at noon … Well-known artists Jeanne Mack and Cher Shaffer join the market’s awesome artists and crafters to offer amazing prices on amazing art.
Speaking of amazing… Amazing Savings is in the house, offering great specials on groceries, including organic foods. The hi-fi café will be serving organic, fair trade coffees and teas to keep you warm. Celloist and fiddler Ben Smith and Nate Ramsey on the mandolin are our musical guests.
