Asheville, this could be your last chance to catch iconic indie rock outfit Guided By Voices. Monday night, the band plays the Orange Peel. Monday night, we’d advise you to attend and witness the spectacle that is GBV.
“Guided by Voices has always sounded like stadium rock from a parallel universe,” wrote SPIN about GBV’s alleged “last show ever” at Raleigh’s Hopscotch festival last year. A reunion tour followed, then a more bona fide getting together of band members led to three albums’ worth of material (and frontman Robert Pollard’s solo LP is due out a day after the Orange Peel show.)
If you’re not familiar with the band, here’s a good article from the Guardian.
And here’s their latest music video, for the single “Keep it in Motion.”
Show reviews from this tour have described a high-energy mix of new songs and classic favorites, with Pollard still exercising his trademark swagger and stage personality. Don’t miss.
