Author and award-winning journalist Amy Goodman, host and executive producer of the Democracy Now! radio/TV program, will be at Malaprop’s Tuesday, April 7. The event is at 3 p.m.
Her stop in Asheville is part of a speaking tour marking the program’s 13th anniversary, and launching the paperback release of her third book Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times.
Amy, along with her brother, journalist David Goodman, also wrote Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders, and the People Who Fight Back (2006) and The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them (2004). All three books are New York Times bestsellers. The daily Democracy Now! news program airs on more than 800 TV and radio stations in North America, including local FM station WPVM.
She’ll be interviewed on Local Edge Radio, 880 AM, this afternoon.

Very thought provoking interview on LER Friday. Great job Jason!
What a joke!
Joke, what joke … what’s so fickin funny ?
Listening to Amy in person was an experience. Why anyone with access to the net or with either satelite provider would miss Amy’s weekday news is beyond me. Actual in depth journalism compared to the local fare of onesided, biased and 30 second peropaganda, what a concept. You go, Amy Goodman!
Dishnetwork, Channel 9410 LINK TV, Channel 9415 Free Speech TV and DirecTV Channel 375 all cary DemocracyNow! Their reporting is by far superior to the garbage spewed forth by the likes of WLOS and the rest of the mass media (propaganda).
