Make your own stupid sock creature

John Murphy, author of the Lark Books-released Stupid Sock Creatures: Making Quirky, Lovable Figures from Cast-off Socks, leads a Lark Labs Plush Social with Stupid Creatures on Saturday, March 14.

Not sure what a stupid sock creature is? Here’s one made by Amazon.com reader Sandi Kafka:

The best part about this local event? Hard to say. Could be the comic relief aspect of crafting a “one-sock monster.” Could be the hang-out-with-old-pals-and-make-some-new-ones-while-you’re-at-it atmosphere. Could be the chance to chill in Lark Books’ inspiring craft space (67 Broadway St., Asheville). Or maybe, best of all, it’s that this is a free event. Just bring a sock—one that lost its mate in the laundry—and learn to make a creature.

The lab runs from 1-3 p.m. Learn more here or by calling 253-0467.
