Forget about tutus and battement tendu, Diavolo Dance Theatre from Los Angeles brings gymnasts, actors and surrealistic props to the stage. This troupe “creates a sense of daring and risk-taking that juxtaposes human fragility and survival – and accomplishes its metaphors of the challenges of relationships, the absurdities of life, and the struggle to maintain our humanity in the shadow of an increasingly technological world,” according to press. The company was founded in ‘92 and has since become an international phenomenon. They’ll tour the U.S. and Mexico this spring, including a two-night stop at Diana Wortham Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13 and 14, 8 p.m. nightly. Tickets are $45 general, $40 for students and $12 for children.
