Usually when a band has a spinoff or a side project, it’s the work of the singer or the lead guitarist. Maybe the keyboard player. Rarely the drummer. Unless that drummer is Allen Aucoin of Philadelphia-based jam band Disco Biscuits.
Aucoin’s DrFameus “explores many realms … from breakbeats to drum ‘n’ bass to dubstep to techno/house,” says the band’s bio. “It is his ability to survey the crowd and then improvise that has allowed Aucoin to play in such diverse projects over the years.”
Aucoin’s background is in composition and music education; the moniker DrFameus came from his time at Berklee College of Music.
