Part band, part theater company, part children’s-book-writing team, PigPen Theatre Co. raises the bar on multitalented. Touring as both a theater company and a band, the seven-man ensemble will focus on their folksy musical stylings at The Millroom this Saturday.
If the sheer novelty of the group isn’t enough to draw an audience, the band’s critical acclaim might be. The New Yorker says a PigPen show is “like watching child geniuses at play” while the Phoenix New Times describes the band’s sound as “reminiscent of the harmonic folk heavyweights such as Fleet Foxes and Crosby Stills and Nash.”
PigPen Theatre Co.’s debut indie-folk album, “Bremen”, was featured by American Songwriter and was named the number 10 album of the year in The Huffington Post’s 2012 Grammy preview.
PigPen Theatre Co. performs at The Millroom on Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m. $10/$12.
