Local post-rock/shoegaze outfit Knives & Daggers (Lauren Brown on guitar and strings, Kevin Stanford on guitar and vocals, Jonathan Bass on drums, Sam Hunt on guitar and Jeremy Joachim on bass) is hard at work on a new album, which they’ll release this fall. But the group is not just holed up in the studio — they’re honing their stage show, too: Knives & Daggers plays The Lab on Saturday, Aug. 17 (9:30 p.m. $5).
New York City-based Heaven also performs. That band, a post-new wave trio, is made up of Mikey Jones (The Big Sleep, Swervedriver), Ryan Lee Dunlap (Fan-Tan) and former North Carolinian Matt Sumrow (The Comas, Cub Country, Mayflies USA and Jennyanykind). Heaven’s lush and darkly-poppy debut LP, Telepathic Love was released last month.
