While not every band creates the sort of fanbase that follows it from state to state (The Grateful Dead, Phish and Widespread Panic make the short list) even fewer of those pied pipers can claim “an intense, retina burning, intelligent light show creates an atmosphere unlike any other, assuring fans they’ll get a highly polished, yet different show each night.” Athens, Ga.‘s Perpetual Groove has that. Along with a jazz/rock/psychedelic/R&B/trance/electronica/progressive sound, and a fist-pumping array of covers. And there’s plenty of time to get the full effect: PGroove plays Asheville Music Hall two nights — Thursday and Friday, Jan. 5 and 6. 10 p.m. showtime. $12 in advance, $15 at the door or $20 for both nights. Xpress will give away a pair of tickets to each show (win Thursday night tickets tomorrow in the noon hour; win Friday night tickets on Wednesday). Follow us on Facebook to win.
