Local ambient-electronic musician and composer Danny Peck, aka dep, is not just talented, but prolific. For instance, in May of this year, he released a song per day on his website. But he’s spent a year on his latest effort, rivers & ghosts. That sweeping, organic, and wrenchingly lovely album is finally ready for release: Peck celebrates the new record on Friday, Oct. 26 at BoBo Gallery (22 Lexington Ave.).
He’ll play the new album in its entirety (recreating the tracks live); his work will be accompanied by visuals. The show takes place from 8-10 p.m. Consider it a mini local electronic showcase, or a companion to Moogfest — drop in post-Pantha du Prince, pre-Miike Snow, or between other acts. Or hang out for the entire set.
Here, Peck talks to Xpress about the making of rivers & ghosts, its seasonally-appropriate title, how he connected with Brian Lucey from Magic Garden Mastering (The Black Keys, Sigur Ros) and what to expect of the Friday night release party.
