Today (Tuesday, Dec. 3) marks the official release of Marley Carroll’s new album Sings. Read a review here. Yesterday, BlackBook launched the video for “Speed Reader” a track from the record. It’s one of a handful of noteworthy previews for Sings. But, while both the album and video are getting national attention, there are lots of local connections.
Asheville-based videographer Dan Judson directed the video for “Speed Reader.” Local fashion designer Brooke Priddy also helmed the production; she posted stills from the set on Facebook. Makeup (at the Grove Arcade) was invited to the shoot and blogged about it here. Dancers Lindsey Kelley and Mindy Upin perform in the video, their ethereal/earthy moves guiding Carroll between fantasy worlds of inky pages and nighttime forest.
