Asheville indie-rockers The Broomstars are gearing up for an especially exciting Saturday night. On June 19 they return to MoDaddy‘s (77 Biltmore Ave., Asheville) where they’ll not just rock out as per usual (and this band does put on a great show); they’ll also play with Amandla, the side-project of Ween drummer Claude Coleman Jr.
Coleman is no mere kit player. According to his bio, “His 20-year discography as a drummer stretches across an eclectic array of artists and players throughout the NY/NJ area and beyond, including artists ranging from Elysian Fields and Eagles of Death Metal to Marco Benevento and Chocolate Genius. On record, Amandla is Coleman as its singer-songwriter, performing on all instruments, engineering and producing. Live, he is Amandla’s frontman and guitarist.”
The show begins at 9 p.m., cover is a mere $5.
