Wednesday, Nov. 11
• Soul/funk/pop outfit Star and Micey (below) make the trip from Memphis to play a mid-week show at BoBo Gallery (22 Lexington Ave., Asheville, 254-3426). Stream their debut album Band Camp; then head to the 8 p.m. show.

• The 6th Annual UNC-Asheville Human Rights Film Festival runs through Nov. 13. All screenings are at 7 p.m. at UNCA’s Highsmith University Union and are free. Info: 250-3870. Films: “Burma VJ” on Wednesday; “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” on Thursday; “Hunger” on Friday.

Thursday, Nov. 12
• JazzChronic (pictured) from Athens, Ga., performs an eclectic blend of jazz, funk, soul, r&b and rock at Mo Daddy’s (77 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, 258-1550). 8 p.m.

• Local Psychedelic-experiemntal artist David Dhoop premiers his band (pictured) at The Town Pump (135 Cherry St., Black Mountain, 669-4808). 8:30 p.m., $5.

• Roots/Americana singer/songwriter Alex Caton (hint: her sound is reminiscent of Gillian Welch) will be at Westville Pub (777 Haywood Rd., West Asheville, 225-9782). 9 p.m.

• Erika Jane & Remember the Bees put in an appearance at BoBo Gallery (22 Lexington Ave., Asheville, 254-3426). 9 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 13
• Flutist Kate Steinbeck and guitarist Amy Brucksch (below) of Keowee Chamber Music perform a CD prelude concert in celebration of thei upcoming disc. Saint Mary’s Church (337 Charlotte St., Asheville), 7:30 p.m. By donation; $15 gets you a CD. Info: 254-7123.

• Guitarist Lefty Williams returns to Mo Daddy’s (77 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, 258-1550). 8 p.m.

• Peace Jones (pictured), makers of feel-good low-key rock, play Wild Wing Cafe (161 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, 253-3066). 8 p.m.

• Carrboro punk band Systems  plays a free showcase at Deep 6 Cycles (12 London Rd., Asheville) with Just Die! (from Asheville), Rogue Nations (from Charlotte) and others. 8 p.m.

• Best band name of the week award goes to Humble Thumb. They play lo-fi folk-punk; check ‘em out at Mike’s Side Pocket (375 Haywood Rd., West Asheville). 8 p.m., free.

• Forty Furies (pictured) and Super Collider join forces for a Rocket Club (401 Haywood Rd., West Asheville, 505-2494) show. 9 p.m.

• Asheville’s RBTS WIN rounds out the evening with a Hookah Bar (38-B N. French Broad Ave., Asheville, 252-1522) show. Now You See Them shares the bill. 10 p.m., $5.

Saturday, Nov. 14
• Jenne Sluder performs at the 1 year anniversary of Black Mountain’s Dynamite Roasting Company (124 Farm School Rd., 243-4085). Dave Desmelik and Seth Kauffman of Flaoting Action (pictured) also play, and there’s free coffee and espresso all day. Music begins at 1 p.m., free.

• Metal band Dark Castle, from St. Augustine, Fla., make a stop at Static Age Records (82-A N. Lexington Ave., Asheville, 254-3232). Kakistocracy also performs. 7 p.m.

• Charleston’s Soothsayer (pictured: the electronica/live drumming/sampling project of Matt Sayour and John Pericles) puts on an 8 p.m. show at the Hookah Bar (38-B N. French Broad Ave., Asheville, 252-1522) with Selector Cleofus. $5.

•  Holy Ghost Tent Revival comes back to WNC for a free show at Warren Wilson College (701 Warren Wilson Rd., Swannanoa) with Now You See Them. 8 p.m.

• Singer/songwriter/beat-boxer Lizzy Pitch (below) will be at the Root Bar (1410 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, 299-7597). 9 p.m., $3.

• Get your rockabilly/bluegrass fix with Brittany Reilly & the Almost Acoustic Band at Westville Pub (777 Haywood Rd., West Asheville, 225-9782). 9 p.m., $5.

Sunday, Nov. 15
• Local singer/songwriter Jimmy Landry performs at Jubilee! (46 Wall St., Asheville) worship services, 9:45 and 11:15 a.m. Free.

• UNC Asheville student ensembles, including the Flute Choir, String Quartet and Brass Quintet will perform at 4 p.m. at UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The student performers are under the direction of Judi Lampert, Inez Redman and Casey Coppenbarger.

• Not-to-be-missed indie-folk outfit Hope for Agoldensummer (pictured) plays at Flood Gallery (109 Roberts St., Asheville). Kovak & The Polar Bear joins the fun. 8 p.m., $5.
