Highland Brewery just announced a special show: Jamaican reggae/hip-hop artist Biggz General takes the stage with RedLyte and ARTIKaL Soundsystem. They sound a little something like this:
The show is Thursday, Jan. 17. And here’s the really good news: It’s free. But you’re like, “Okay, that’s nice, but who the heck is Biggz General?”
Biggz (born Matthew Prendergast), is the son of Sharon Marley Prendergast. Sharon is the daughter of Rita Marley prior to Rita’s marriage to reggae legend Bob Marley. When Rita and Bob wed, he adopted Sharon and raised her with his and Rita’s brood (including musicians Cedella, Ziggy and Stephen). Which makes Biggz General the grandson of Bob. He’s been sited by reggae fans as sounding like his granddad and his uncle Ziggy.
Local reggae/rock outfit Marrietta’s Palm opens the show. Highland Brewery and Tasting Room opens at 4 p.m., music begins at 7 p.m.
