“Why go to a Mayer Hawthorne show? Is ‘great music a good enough answer? The debut album from Mayer Hawthorne and The County, A Strange Arrangement, was one of the most highly acclaimed releases of 2009.
“John Mayer called it ‘record of the year,’ and we assume that’s not just because they share a name. Spin Magazine called Mayer’s performance at the Outside Lands Festival one of the top performances this year.
“But there’s more than that.
“Mayer (Hawthorne, not John) exudes confidence and enthusiasm without being forced or phony. His sound is organic, like the classic soul of the early Motown days, updated for modern ears. And he presents himself the same way, never trying to be something he’s not, or turning up the ‘swag’ for the cameras.
“The tour will visit 32 cities in October and November. Possibly yours. Mayer is accompanied on the road by The County, a full backing band that tactfully fleshes out Mayer’s compositions in person. Mayer Hawthorne & The County are joined by The Heavy who will co-headline 9 of the show dates (see tour dates for details).
“Fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to meet & greet events via an online sweepstakes, and will be treated to exciting ways to share the tour experience with friends.”
