Xpress’ new gastronomic guide hits the streets

Think of yourself as a ravenous animal, stalking Asheville’s restaurants and bars for just the right place to satisfy. It’s a jungle out there, but Mountain Xpress is here to help.

Your survival guide is a free copy of Xpress’ new annual compendium, Asheville Eats & Drinks. The half-menu-sized guide can be found at 120 locations (most of them in Buncombe County), including the countertops of local businesses and 35 Xpress boxes on the street. The guide offers detailed listings of more than 400 bars and restaurants in the county, and that’s not all.

To spice it up, Xpress asked for help from more than a dozen local clubs and organizations. The groups — ranging from committed foodies to business lunchers to the Latte Repblicans — told us where they’d go for the perfect cup of coffee, family-friendly meal, cheap eats etc. We’ve also included several pages of your recommendations — the establishments readers cast votes for in Xpress’ annual “Best of WNC” poll.

Interested in getting your hands on some of the guides? Contact Distribution Manager Sammy Coxe at 251-1333, ext. 121. And click here to consult the Eats & Drinks directory online.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
