I-40 through the Pigeon River Gorge will remain closed for a week while crews remove debris from a rock slide that occurred during the evening of Friday, Feb. 22. Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction for six to eight weeks while cleanup continues, the agency announced Saturday morning.
