Asheville Parks and Recreation offers summer camps

The City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department is offering day camp experiences for children interested in sports. Camps include a skateboarding, swimming, tennis, and a five star sports camp that offers a variety of activities. Each camp varies in ages accepted, dates, and cost. SUMMERTIME SPORTS FUN WITH
ASHEVILLE PARKS & RECREATION SUMMER CAMPS

Asheville, NC – Looking for a camp for your sports-minded child? The City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department still has a few slots open in camps that are great for children looking for a different type of camp experience!

Skateboard Camp
Camps are held at the Food Lion Skatepark for skaters ages 6 to 15 who wish to sharpen skills, focus on progression and have fun skating with peers. Week-long sessions will be held in June and July, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information on camp dates and to register, call the Food Lion Skatepark at 828-225-7184.

Recreation Swim Club
Held at Recreation Park Pool, this camp is an introduction to competitive swimming. Instruction includes butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Participants should be ages 8 to 14 and able to swim 25 yards. Session 1 will be held June 30 to July 23 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Session 2 will be held July 11 to August 1 on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. The fee is $50 and Asheville City Residents receive a discount. Tennis Camp
Focuses on progressive skill development and play for ages 8 to 14. Camps will be held at Aston Park Tennis Center and run weekly from June 15 through July 30 from 3 to 6 p.m. Cost is $100 per week and Asheville City Residents receive a discount. 5 Star Sports Camp
A fun, fast-paced experience for ages 7 to 12 in various sports, learning skills and playing organized games of flag football, basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball and more! This week-long camp will be held July 6 through 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fee for the week is $50 and Asheville City Residents receive a discount. Participants already enrolled in Parks and Recreation Teen & Playground can join for only $25. For more information, contact Seth Jackson at 828-259-5483 or sjackson@ashevillenc.gov.
