5Point Adventure Film Festival comes to Asheville, Oct. 6-8

Leading adventure film event 5Point Adventure Film Festival announces details for the concert- style film festival in Asheville, NC, taking place October 6-8, 2016.

The leading adventure film festival, which was founded in 2008 by former Climbing Magazine owner, Julie Kennedy, and founder of outdoor brand Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, offers audiences a taste of adventure through the lens, with a compelling program of more than 50 short films, panel discussions, community events, parties and more during the three-day event. The regional festival has become a highlight on the adventure film industry calendar and this year’s film program will include Ace and The Desert Dog by Brendon Leonard and Forest Woodward, Uni-Saders, When We Were Knights by Anson Fogel, Trail to Kazbegi, Role Reversal among others. During the three-day event visiting guest speakers and panelists will include author and professional adventurer, Brendan Leonard; Jimmy Agnew, unicycle guru, spoken word performer Wade Newsom, Editor-in-Chief of Bike Mag, Brice Minnigh, 5Point founder, Julie Kennedy, In Between Swims podcast host, Jeff McIntyre, and filmmakers Thomas Woodson, Joey Schusler, and Jon Glassberg.

Local female legends will join a panel and live podcast recording, including Ky Delaney, Shanna Powell, Anne Riddle, and Anna Levesque. Also in the lineup of local special guests, filmmaker, Brett McCall, yoga instructor, Joe Taft, pro kayaker and speaker, Chris Gragtmans, and former City Councilman, Marc Hunt.

Other festival highlights include starting the weekend with the signature Van Life rally and kick-off party Thursday, October 6, 2016, 4-10pm at the Salvage Station. Also on the preliminary schedule of events is a group trail run, yoga class, tours of Sierra Nevada Brewery, VIP parties, poetry readings, live music, demos, clinics, and workshops, and presentations with special guests. New for 2016 at 5Point Asheville will be discounted tickets and passes for attendees of the Overland Expo East and Beer City Beatdown events happening in Asheville for the weekend.

Tickets on sale September 1, $10 for youths, $20 regular and $60 VIP, and can be purchased at http://5pointfilm.org/tickets or at the US Cellular Center box office. Details on films and other events and programming are available here. A detailed schedule of events will be announced in September.
