Press release from Haywood County Sheriff’s Office:
The time has come! This weekend, Haywood County law enforcement and firefighters will head up to the Belk roof for a full weekend of rooftop camping as part of the 6th annual “Cops on Top” fundraiser for Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC).
The group will go to the Waynesville Belk rooftop at 9 a.m. Friday and will camp out up there until 2 p.m. Sunday. We will have teams collecting donations on the ground throughout the weekend!
Last year, Haywood County ranked #5 in the state for SONC fundraising efforts, which spoke volumes about the Haywood County community. More than $30,000 was donated last year for Cops on Top. Money raised for SONC is used to support year-round training and competition opportunities for Special Olympics athletes.
We hope to see you there so we can make this the best year yet!
