AdventHealth Hendersonville addresses Blackbaud data breach

Press release from AdventHealth Hendersonville:

Through the generous support of our community, AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation supports vital programs and services and helps ensure exceptional care is available to every individual when they need it.

In support of our philanthropic efforts, we – along with thousands of other non-profit organizations, health care systems, and academic institutions across the country – use a relationship management software from Blackbaud, a third-party software vendor.

On July 16, 2020, Blackbaud informed AdventHealth that an unauthorized individual had gained access to their systems between February 7 and May 20, 2020. Blackbaud further advised that the unauthorized individual may have acquired a backup of the database that manages the donor information for the organizations they support.

Blackbaud informed us that the donor database that was accessed by the unauthorized individual may have included name, address, date of birth, telephone number, email address, gift type and/or amount.

Blackbaud advised that Social Security numbers, financial accounts, and credit card information were encrypted and not able to be accessed by the unauthorized individual. This incident did not affect the AdventHealth electronic medical record system.

Protecting the privacy and security of information entrusted to AdventHealth is very important to us and we are taking steps to assist those who may be impacted and to ensure this does not happen again.

AdventHealth is mailing letters to all individuals who were potentially impacted, as well as sharing this information with local media and posting this notice on our website.

We are in contact with Blackbaud to understand what measures they will take to remedy the situation and prevent further incidents. We are also re-evaluating our relationship with Blackbaud.

AdventHealth has secured the services of Kroll, a global leader in risk mitigation and response, to provide dedicated assistance with answering any questions about this incident, at 877-376-0121, Monday through Friday, at 9 am to 6:30 pm Eastern Time.

We are grateful for all who support the AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation and sincerely regret this situation and any concern or inconvenience it may cause.
