AFD partners with ALDI for rare training opportunity on Oct. 27-28

Press release from Asheville Fire Department:

Asheville Fire Firefighters get a unique opportunity to train this weekend thanks to a local ALDI grocery store. The ALDI off Swannanoa River Rd will be tearing down their current building Monday, but before they do they have agreed to allow AFD to rotate companies through so that firefighters can train in this large commercial building, an opportunity that doesn’t come available often.  Training techniques will include large area search, rapid intervention on saving a down firefighter, commercial building ventilation, breaching of walls, forcible entry and more. This partnership exemplifies how relationships between AFD and local businesses can be a win for all.  The training this weekend will help to sharpen firefighter skills to ensure they are better prepared to serve the businesses and residents of Asheville.

Check out AFD’s Twitter account and Instagram @ashevillefd this weekend to see images from this training and continue to follow these social media sights in order to keep up to date with what is happening at the Asheville Fire Department.
