A local attorney has been named to the Buncombe County Board of Elections to replace an appointee who would not serve because of an effort to remove county Elections Director Trena Parker.
John “Jay” Watson, a Republican who practices law in Asheville and lives in Black Mountain, is scheduled to be sworn in at the beginning of the county board’s meeting Monday. …
The Board of Elections will meet at 2 p.m. Monday on the second floor of the Stanley Center at 35 Woodfin St.
