Angel Medical Center now one of nation’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals

PRESS RELEASE: Patients at Angel Medical Center receive some of the best care in the nation, according to an important new ranking.

Angel Medical Center is now one of the nation’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs), a ranking reserved for less than ten percent of all Critical Access Hospitals in the nation.
The designation is identified through the Hospital Strength Index, the industry standard for assessing – and benchmarking – rural and Critical Access Hospital performance.

The index measures 70 objective standards including quality, outcomes, affordability, population risk, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

“Our patients receive exceptional care, close to home, with an intense focus on safety and quality,” said President & Chief Nursing Officer Karen Gorby. “This achievement is evidence of the dedication our talented and compassionate caregivers have for our patients and we are very proud of them.”

Angel Medical Center joins Transylvania Regional Hospital on the list. The two Mission Health hospitals are among just three on the list in all of North Carolina.

Transylvania Regional is also a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital.

“We are extremely proud of both Angel Medical Center and Transylvania Regional Hospital,” said Kathy Guyette, Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services and President, Regional Member Hospitals for Mission Health. “Having two of only three Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the state as members of the Mission Health family is a testament to our BIG(GER) Aim: to get every person to their desired outcome, first without harm, also without waste and always with an exceptional experience for each person, family and team member.”

Nationwide, there are nearly 1,300 Critical Access Hospitals. They play an important role in providing efficient and effective healthcare that is on par with other larger suburban and urban counterparts.
