Annual Veterans Creative Arts Show and Competition has been moved to Feb. 20

The date of the 9th Annual Creative Arts Show and Competition for Veterans has been changed. It will now be held from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Medical Center Atrium. The show had been scheduled for Thursday, Feb 13.

Veterans have entered art work in a number of categories:

• Fine Arts – painting, sculpture, graphics, drawings, pottery, photography, mixed media, digital art and military combat experience
• Applied Art – ceramics, wood-working, carving, jewelry, crocheting/knitting, mosaic, needlework, metalwork, glasswork, beadwork, collage, assemblage, leather work/stamping, knotting, original design in fiber arts/needlework, scroll saw/fretwork, mixed media
• Craft Kits – leather, wood-building, models, string art, latch hook, craft coloring kits, paint by number, sun-catcher, needlework kits, figurine painting, fabric art, sand art, mosaic kit and combined kits.
• Creative Writing – poetry, essays, short stories

Everyone is invited to attend. The winners’ artwork from this local show will be entered into the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival, Oct. 27 – Nov. 2, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.

More than 3,700 Veterans from over 130 VA facilities around the nation took part in the 2013 National Veterans Creative Arts Competition. The program offers Veterans the chance to express themselves through the arts and to gain recognition for their creative talents and skills. The arts competition is also sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
