Nathaniel Elijah Dixon Charged in Connection to Murder of Candace Pickens and Attempted Murder of Zachaeus Waters
Asheville, NC (May 13, 2016): Nathaniel Elijah Dixon, 24, of Asheville, has been charged in connection with the murder of Candace Elaine Pickens and the attempted murder of her son, Zachaeus Latese Waters. Dixon is charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder and Child Abuse resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
Asheville Police Department investigators were able to determine that Dixon fled the Asheville area to Columbus, Ohio. After coordinating with the Columbus Police Department, Dixon was taken into custody by that agency and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
The Asheville Police Department would like to thank the members of the public that provided tips and other information during the inquiry into this matter, and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office for the assistance that they provided throughout the investigation.
