News release from The City of Asheville:
The Asheville Police Department, with the assistance of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, arrested three individuals and successfully prevented looting at two businesses near Biltmore Village late last night.
The Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, who have been assisting in law enforcement efforts in Asheville, encountered a suspicious vehicle towing a utility trailer loaded with a pallet of items around 11:32 p.m. on October 22nd in Biltmore Village. Asheville Police Department Officers quickly responded to the intersection of Sweeten Creek Road and London Road to assist MHSP. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the trailer in possession of Anthony Duke Maney (03/19/1985) had been reported as stolen, along with items inside, which were taken from a business on Fairview Road. APD officers charged Maney with Felony Larceny and Trespass During Emergency and took him into custody without incident. Maney was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
Shortly after, Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol officers made contact with two other individuals, Tiffany Faye Runyan (11/03/1977) and Donald Keith Lance (04/11/1961), in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of Biltmore Avenue as they were loading merchandise shelves and items from the business into their vehicle. Both were taken into custody without incident and charged with Trespass During Emergency. The investigation is ongoing. Potential additional charges could be forthcoming.
