Asheville Police & Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office seeking drive-by shooter who targeted BCSO deputy’s vehicle and home

Press release from APD:

The Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons who fired into a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy’s marked vehicle, his occupied home and the home of another.

APD Patrol officers responded to Wellington Drive around 10:16 p.m. on April 6 to investigate reports of property and vehicle damage from bullet holes. The BCSO Deputy’s marked vehicle was struck by multiple bullets. Another vehicle in the same driveway was also struck by a bullet. Officers canvassed the area and located damage from one bullet hole to the exterior of the deputy’s home. A residence directly behind received damage from four bullet holes to the outside of the home.

Following an extensive investigation, it has been determined the BCSO Deputy’s vehicle and home were intentionally targeted.

A nearby surveillance camera captured a dark-colored Hyundai Elantra that is believed to be involved.

The Asheville Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a joint investigation of this incident and are asking anyone who knows the identity of the shooter to contact APD or the BCSO.
