Press release from Asheville Police Department:
At 4 p.m. on October 6, the Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to a residence on Deaverview Road regarding a breaking and entering and an assault. The caller reported to the officers when they arrived that a suspect broke into his apartment while holding a handgun, and that an altercation between the two men occurred within the home.
A subsequent investigation by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Section revealed that the break-in was the end result of an earlier assault in a nearby parking lot where the original caller to APD assaulted the other man with a machete, causing serious injury to his hand.
As a result of the investigation, detectives have charged Jeremiah Tramell Jenkins, 41, of Asheville, and Christopher Tillman Turner, 40, of Asheville for their actions during both incidents.
Jenkins has been charged with the following offenses, and has since been released from the Buncombe County Detention Center:
-Assault by pointing a gun
-Breaking and entering
-Second-degree trespassingTurner has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. His arrest warrant is still outstanding, and the APD is seeking the assistance of the public to locate him. Turner should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with black hair and blue eyes. He was last known to reside in west Asheville.
If anyone has information concerning the whereabouts of Turner, they are encouraged to contact the APD at 828-252-1110. If Turner is encountered, contact 911 immediately.
