**UPDATE** APD seeking help locating two suspects in April 3 homicide

UPDATE (April 14, 2020): Dajour Johahaun McDay has turned himself in and is currently in custody. We are still seeking the public’s assistance to help locate Sherwayne Akeem Bascom.

UPDATE: A reward of up to $1500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Dajour McDay and Sherwayne Bascom.
The Asheville Police Department is seeking the public’s help to locate Dajour Johahaun McDay and Sherwayne Akeem Bascom in relation to the homicide that occurred in Pisgah View Apartments on April 3. Both are considered to be armed and dangerous. The public is encouraged to contact 9-1-1 immediately if either man is seen.
Dajour Johahaun McDay (21), of Asheville, has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and the possession of a firearm by a felon. McDay is a black male, 5’9″, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. McDay has a tattoo on his right forearm with the letters “FOE.”

Sherwayne Akeem Bascom (29), of Asheville, has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and the possession of a firearm by a felon. Bascom is black male, 5’8″, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Tyran Dewayne Burton was previously charged by the APD for aiding and abetting first degree murder. Following further investigation, Burton is facing additional charges of aiding and abetting attempted first degree murder, and aiding and abetting robbery with a dangerous weapon. Burton is currently in custody at the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

This investigation remains open and active. Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of McDay or Bascom is encouraged to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Buncombe County Crimestoppers at 828-255-5050.
