APD Detectives are releasing the name of the homicide victim from Monday night following next of kin notification and have charged and arrested one of the shooters.
Ashley Ryan Waddell (11/29/1983) has been identified as the homicide victim; next of kin has been notified.
Investigators have arrested one of the shooters, Isaiah Rayshawn Waddell (04/27/2001), with Attempted 1st Degree Murder. Waddell was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release).
Detectives are continuing their investigation. If anyone has any information about the shooting to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store). You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.

APD News Release-Asheville Police Investigating Shooting That Leaves One Dead, Three WoundedAsheville, NC (June 24, 2024): Asheville Police Department Detectives are investigating a Monday night shooting that left one dead, two others with gunshot wounds, and one with injuries from blunt force trauma.
APD Officers responded to an apartment complex on Livingston Street around 7:58 p.m. on June 24. Upon arrival, officers found four individuals, three of which suffered from gunshot wounds and one other from blunt force trauma.
One of the gunshot wound victims succumbed to their injuries, another gunshot wound victim is in critical condition, and the third suffered from non-life threatening injuries. Information on the identity of the deceased is being withheld until Detectives complete next of kin notification.
Officers, Detectives, and Forensic Technicians are actively investigating with the assistance of the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiners.
A person of interest was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
