APD seeking public assistance on downtown assault

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police Department Major Case Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred in the early morning hours.

APD Patrol Officers responded to the area of North Lexington Avenue around 2:00 a.m. on June 27 to investigate the report of an assault. Officers arrived to locate the victim, who had been struck from behind and was suffering from an obvious wound to the back of the head. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Detectives are asking for your help described the suspect as a male with short hair wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.

Detectives need your help. If you have any information about this case or know the identity of the suspect, please send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
