APD seeks to identity persons of interest in downtown Asheville explosion

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (July 5, 2022):  Investigators with the Asheville Police Department are seeking the identity of persons of interest who may have information in the detonation of improvised explosive devices at Pack Square at the site of the former Vance Monument Monday evening.

APD Officers have arrested two persons for that explosion – Duncan Andrew Small (5-18-92) and Chioke Auden Fugate (5-29-99) – for lighting IEDs similar to pipe bombs and throwing them at the former monument.  Fortunately, no one was injured.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying these other persons who were at the scene of the explosion and may have further information.  You can send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411, using the TIP2APD app, or calling directly to (828) 252-1110.
