UPDATE *** APD investigating fatal collision ***
Asheville – On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at approximately 8:37 PM the Asheville Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on US 25 near Rock Hill Rd. Preliminary investigation reveals that a red 1993 Chevrolet Lumina operated by Kimberly Patience Folston, 45, of Asheville was traveling southbound on US 25 when it crossed the center lane and proceeded into the northbound lanes and struck a moped being operated in the right hand, northbound travel lane by Sierra Marie Allen, 27, of Arden. Ms. Allen died at the scene.
Ms. Folston was charged with Driving While Impaired. Additional charges may be brought against Ms. Folston pending further investigation and consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.
